KUALA LUMPUR: Versa Asia Sdn Bhd (Versa) has recorded more than 30,000 users for its auto save feature, as more Malaysians turn to automated savings and investments to strengthen their long-term financial security.

Versa, who was recently named to Forbes Asia’s “100 to Watch” list, said its platform has amassed RM2.5 billion in savings since its 2021 launch.

“The milestone comes as retirement adequacy remains a concern,” it said in a statement.

According to figures by the Finance Ministry, fewer than four in 10 active Employees Provident Fund (EPF) members in the formal sector have adequate savings for their age bracket.

It also noted that only 38.3 per cent of the 7.94 million active contributors aged 18 to 60 are on track to meet basic retirement milestones, while nearly 70 per cent of Malaysians aged 54 have less than RM250,000 in their EPF accounts.

Reflecting on the figures, Versa said mandatory contributions remain a vital safety net, but these figures show payroll deductions alone are no longer enough.

There needs to be a complementary, systematic approach to saving take-home income, it said.

“The real success story is that more than 30,000 users are automatically investing part of their monthly income instead of relying on willpower alone.

“Starting early and staying consistent are key to building long-term financial resilience,” said Versa chief executive officer Teoh Wei Xiang.

Versa’s strategic partner AHAM Asset Management Bhd said the collaboration has also surpassed RM1 billion in assets under management on the platform.

This reflects growing confidence among Malaysians in digital wealth management solutions.

To mark the milestone, Versa has introduced a series of promotional campaigns, including fixed-return savings offers and a limited-time Auto Save incentive for new users.
