Malaysian fintech startup Versa bags $6.8m series A

Versa, a Malaysia-based wealth management platform, has secured 30 million ringgit (US$6.78 million) in a series A funding round.

The round was led by AHAM Asset Management Berhad, with participation from Tengku Fahad Mua’adzam Shah and Versa CEO Teoh Wei-Xiang.

The funds will support Versa’s expansion and product improvements over the next five years.

Since launching in 2021, the platform has grown to offer nearly 20 conventional and Shariah-compliant funds. With around 300,000 users, Versa facilitated over 500 million ringgit (US$112.98 million) in savings in 2024.

The platform gained traction by eliminating front-end fees and recently introduced Versa Quest, which rewards users with bonus booster rates. Some users achieved returns as high as 9.3% in January 2025.

AHAM Capital’s managing director Dato’ Teng Chee Wai praised Versa’s customer-focused approach, while chairman Dato’ Noorazman highlighted the funding as a sign of investor confidence in promoting financial inclusivity in Malaysia.
